Unit 30 P6
When using and editing graphics you come across many problems, one being copyright.
Copyright is exclusive rights which can be put on something that the original owner can put on something they produce.
In order to find if something is a copyright you need to look at the image closely to see if this symbol is there ©, if the symbol does not appear in the image then its safe to use however if it is there then you need to find contact with the owner to get consent to the image, this is only if you really need to use the image because it could take a while to find the owner of the original owner.
Trademark may also be a problem when trying to edit and use certain images this what trademark looks like ™.
Trademark is a symbol, word or words which are legally registered or established by use as representing a company or product. The trademark owner can be an individual or a business organization. Depending on the extent of trademark violation, you can be taken to court for trademark infringement or fraud. You will be required to destroy all infringement materials and pay a fee to the holder of the trademark.
Some examples of intellectual property could include: Music, Literature or other artistic work. Under intellectual property laws, the owners are granted certain exclusive rights. Intellectual property legislation's are a form of property under the form of intangible property. Due to it being considered intangible property the creators of the property are allowed to share or transfer ownership of the property however an unrelated person will be prosecuted for using the property without it being transferred from the creator.
